Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Shally: 

Your journey spans engineering, global exposure, and founding a luxury jewellery brand. What inspired this transition?

Like many Indian entrepreneurs, my journey began with a familiar path—engineering. It was a choice rooted in stability and discipline, and it shaped my analytical thinking early on.

However, my real transformation happened beyond academics. I discovered a natural inclination toward teaching, storytelling, and connecting with people. Over time, I realized that what truly fulfilled me wasn’t just building systems—it was building relationships.

A pivotal turning point came when I was living in Germany with my husband. Being in a global environment exposed me to diverse cultures and aesthetics. I began noticing that women were consistently drawn to the jewellery I wore—they appreciated not just the pieces, but the way I styled and carried them.

That’s when I realized I had organically become a trend influencer in my own space.

More importantly, I found joy in encouraging women to express themselves, step out of their comfort zones, and even explore entrepreneurship. Around the same time, I was closely observing the rise of lab-grown diamonds—a shift that aligned perfectly with evolving consumer values like sustainability and accessibility.

That intersection of passion, purpose, and opportunity led to the birth of AVAIDENS.

What convinced you that lab-grown diamonds represent the future of the jewellery industry?

For me, it wasn’t just a business decision—it was the convergence of global exposure, market awareness, and personal values.

Through my interactions with international clients, I saw a clear shift in consumer mindset. Today’s buyers—especially the younger generation—are more informed, conscious, and value-driven. They’re not just buying a diamond for its appearance, but for what it represents.

Lab-grown diamonds stood out because they offer the same brilliance and composition as natural diamonds, but with greater transparency, ethical sourcing, and accessibility. There’s no ambiguity around origin, and significantly less environmental impact.

But beyond the data, what truly resonated with me was this:

Luxury is evolving.

Earlier, luxury was defined by rarity and price. Today, it is defined by conscious choice, sustainability, and personal meaning.

At AVAIDENS, we didn’t just follow this shift—we chose to lead with it. Because the future belongs to brands that are not only beautiful, but also responsible.

You emphasize that jewellery is about emotion and meaning. How do you translate that into design?

For me, every piece begins with a conversation—not a catalogue.

Before discussing diamonds or specifications, I focus on understanding the story behind the purchase. Is it a proposal, a milestone, a personal reward, or even a moment of healing?

That emotion becomes the foundation of the design, which I translate through three layers:

1. Personal Story → Design Concept

Every story has symbols—a shape, a date, a personality trait. We convert these into a concept that feels deeply personal.

2. Emotion → Craftsmanship Details

Details like the setting, structure, and flow of the piece are intentionally designed to reflect the emotion. For instance, open designs can symbolize clarity and new beginnings.

3. Memory → Longevity

Jewellery is meant to last generations. We ensure durability, comfort, and timelessness so that the story continues to live on.

At AVAIDENS, we don’t just create jewellery—we co-create memories. Because while people may forget specifications, they never forget how a piece made them feel.

Trust is central to your brand. How do you build it in a global, high-value industry?

Trust isn’t built through words—it’s built through consistency and experience.

In this industry, clients are not just investing money—they’re investing emotions and milestones. At AVAIDENS, we focus on a few non-negotiables:

2. Modern Design & Technology: We integrate CAD design, 3D visualization, and global trend insights. Clients can preview and personalize their pieces before creation.

3. Personalized Client Journey: Every design begins with understanding the client’s personality, lifestyle, and story. The result is a piece that feels uniquely theirs.

We don’t see tradition and modernity as opposites—they complement each other.

Craftsmanship gives the piece its soul.

Design gives it relevance.

Personalization gives it identity.

What challenges have you faced as a woman entrepreneur, and how have they shaped your leadership?

Building a global luxury brand as a woman has been both empowering and challenging.

Early on, credibility was something I had to consistently prove—especially in a traditionally male-dominated industry. There were also challenges in navigating global markets while staying true to my identity and values.

There were moments of self-doubt and isolation—something many women entrepreneurs experience but rarely speak about.

But these challenges shaped my leadership in meaningful ways:

Clarity Over Noise – I focus on consistent results rather than over-explaining.

Relationships Over Hierarchies – Every interaction is built on connection, not position.

Empowerment Over Competition – I actively support other women in starting and growing their journeys.

Purpose Over Superficiality – I stay rooted in why I started—to create meaningful impact, not just products.

Today, my leadership is about guidance, trust, and creating space for others to grow.

How do you see the future of the jewellery industry evolving?

The industry is undergoing a fundamental shift—from product-driven to purpose-driven.

Consumers today are asking deeper questions:

Where does this come from?

What does it stand for?

Does it align with my values?

Lab-grown diamonds are playing a key role in this transformation:

Accessibility Without Compromise

Luxury is becoming more inclusive.

Transparency & Trust

Clear origins build stronger consumer confidence.

Freedom in Design

Greater affordability allows for more creativity and personalization.

But the bigger shift is this:
